Title: Meet me there
Pairing: Lionel Messi and Bojan Krkic
Rating: G
Disclaimer: FICTION. LOL.

He wakes up from the cold air sending shivers down his spine. The weather had been outrageously cold these past few days that during the night, not even the thick sheets could keep him warm.

All he needed to get through the night were arms wrapped tightly around him and the feeling of soft hair tickling the back of his neck.

Every night he woke up from the cold and from the thought of not being in his right home. He was home, but without him, it didn’t feel like it.

His king sized bed was of no good use these days. After all, it was only him now. Because what was once a bed occupied by two young bodies had now become a bed with an empty space on the left.

Whenever he would wake up in the night, he’d look back in time and remember the nights when he’d wake up because his former love needed socks to warm his cold feet. He would stand up half asleep, and walk to his closet to grab a pair of socks. And from time to time during his walk back, he’d stumble over a piece of clothing and he’d hear the childish laugh of the boy in his bed.

He missed those nights. He missed him, every part of him.

It ended too soon, he always said to himself.

The boy was young with a great future ahead of him. At present time, he already had the world, but with the way things were, he would possibly rule the earth.

He didn’t know why he fell in love with such a fragile kid, but back then, he never needed a reason. As long as he had him by his side, he always thought God just wanted him to be happy. But now that he was gone, he couldn’t help but think in the silence of the night of why God would be so cruel to him.

He would’ve rather had his own life taken from him. Now, he was dead inside. Every part of him was torn into pieces and death to him seemed to be the only way he could be happy again.

He remembered the last night he spent with him. They lay on the bed, with eyes wide open.

“One day, I’m going to die.” The boy said as he looked up at the ceiling.

“We’re all going to die one day.”

“Yes, but when I die, it will be different.”

“How is that so?”

“Well, when I die, the sun will be out and there will be no breeze. And when I take my last look at this perfect world, I will see you.” the boy grabbed his hand as he spoke.

“How do you know that you will die before me?”

“I just do,” the boy grabbed his hand as he continued to talk. “And promise me that when you die, you’ll meet me in Heaven.”

“I promise.” He said as he felt a tear fall down his cheek.

He cried himself to sleep thinking about the boy. And he dreamt of him, dreamt of the sunny days they spent together, dreamt of the cold nights when they both lay in each other’s arms.

But in the middle of his dreams, he heard the boy’s voice. It was a whisper that echoed in his head.

Promise you’ll meet me in heaven.” The words repeated themselves in his head, and he couldn’t help but answer loudly, “I’m here.”
